The past three days the legends of the LPGA descended on Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor Florida to compete at the Legends 1st ever major. The field included such greats as: Pat Bradley, Joanne Carner, Betsy King, Sherri Turner, Rosie Jones, Jan Stephenson, and Sherri Steinhauer. The championship was contested on newly renovated Island Golf Course at Innisbrook Resort. The golf course was setup incredibly difficult with fast greens and ideal course conditions.
Sheri Steinhauer walked away with top honors carding a 36 hole total of 141 (-3) under par. Her three shot victory over Allison Finney Was here first victory since 2007 State Farm Classic. This former two time major champion played beautifully coming down the stretch with a fantastic exhibition of lag putting on the diabolic Island Course greens. She two putted on the final two holes from 50 and 40 feet respectively.
The Florida gulf coast winds played a significant part in the final round as the LPGA Legends negotiated their way thru with a multitude of shots.
The tour continues with the prestigious Handa Cup on December 5th – 7th at World Golf Hall of Fame
